Jpeg Enhanser is an easy way to take the grain and rough edges out of your older jpegs. It also works well after resizing disrupts the smooth lines of your images. Sure you can do this with Photoshop or Gimp, but do you really know how? I prefer the easy way.

Cumulate Draw is a simple to use web app that behaves just like installed sofware. It is great for simple diagrams and even provides components for flow charts, network diagrams, both Mac and Windows UI, and Workflow diagrams. Don't pirate Microsoft Visio.
ResizR is a quick and painless way to resize any image. You can upload from your computer or point it to a url. It even lets you chose the exact width of the resized image, which is great for formatting webpages, etc. ResizR also has a firefox extension.
Inkscape is a vector drawing program on par with Illustrator and CorelDraw. It is powerful and uses standard vector file formats.
Picasa is an excellent photo organizer. Not only does it keep all your photos organized, you can easily perform the most common photo edits and print. If you use Gmail, it is integrated for easy publishing and emailing pictures to friends. I use this instead of the software that came with my camera. This is a must have for anyone who uses a digital camera.

Gimp aka GIMPshop is an open-source competitor to Adobe Photoshop. This is a very powerful image editing tool. I actually found basic editing to be much easier than on Photoshop. Just like it's expensive counterpart, there are tons of tutorials, help, and add-ons for it.
